There are different types of scaffolding that are used for construction which include the following:
This is a type of scaffolding in which the working platform is usually supported on ladders that are usually movable or tripods. Normally, this type is used up to a height of 5m and specifically for work that is done inside the rooms such as paintings and repairs.
This is usually made from steel tubes that have been set jointly by steel fittings. Erecting and dismantling it is very simple. It’s characterised of having a better robustness, superior fire resistance and greater durability which makes it a bit expensive. In addition, it is safer and assures safety to those using it, a reason that confers a greater preference to users over many others.
These are also made from steel tubes but are fitted with special coupling and frames among others. They are usually readily available in the market since they are ready made. The working platform is usually set on the brackets which are adjustable to the required level.
This type is basically used for painting and repairs among others. It involves the use or wire ropes and chains to suspend the working platform on the roofs. As such, it can be lowered or lifted to the desired level.
This is mainly used for brick masonry hence known as brick layer’s scaffolding. It comprises of ledgers, standards, and putlogs among others which usually correspond to the wall at an upright gap of 1.2 to 1.5m. While using them putlogs are usually extracted from the remaining gap in the wall to an end of the ledgers then positioned at a similar gap as the ledgers.
Basically used for stone masonry hence known as mason’s scaffolding or independent scaffolding. It involves making up of two rows to make it more robust because making holes on the walls for the purpose of enhancing support for putlogs is quite difficult. The first row is usually placed about 20 to 30cm from the wall the next being about 1m away from the first row. Afterwards, putlogs are usually positioned in a manner that they are supported by the frames in addition to making it sturdier by making cross braces and rakers.
This is made from a hard wearing galvanised steel. This system is often effortless hence assembling, erecting and disassembling it is quite simple. It is quite helpful for those builders that are working on both bigger and smaller projects. It can be used an alternative to places where the regular scaffold is used. It can be built to any height since it employs the strong and interlocking system.
